What is Your Goal?
By Lauren Frazier on 4/29/2024
Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 3:12-14 NIV
I’m not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don’t get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back. - Philippians 3:12-14 MSG
We cannot live into our future when we have a foot stuck in the past. At no point do we have to have it all figured out to continue on. On the contrary, we need to keep pressing forward and that just does not happen when we are still tethered to the past.
It is ok to not have perfected how to do this or that. We can own that we will continue to make mistakes. The question is always, what are we learning from our mistakes?
Are we repeating them? Or are we repenting them? Are we letting them cripple our ability to move forward? Or are we allowing them to be the most invaluable teachers of our life?
When we are doing life with Christ we can stand in the promise that He has already done it all. We can fail and stand strong so that we can walk forward and do it better the next time. Forgiveness and grace is endless. Now we do well to channel that and offer it as freely as He does. This is how we run forward toward Christ and not turn back.
- What is the goal of your life? Is it set on the world or the eternal? When we set our sights on the eternal everything in the world falls into place. Write out your goals for the world and see if they align to your eternal goal.
Heavenly Father, Thank You for not making us an expert in life. Thank You for allowing us the space to fail. Thank You for your patience as we make our way through this life and figure out how to set You at the center and priority of it all. Help us to rest in this promise of You. You are the goal. Set our mind on that each day. Amen.
